The pass rush should get the best of Sam Howell
The 49ers slipped up on Christmas at home. Now, they travel across the country to face what initially was Jacoby Brissett. He’s hurt, which means Sam Howell is back in the picture as the starter. Howell has struggled as the starter. And San Francisco flying to the East Coast might mean a slower start.
Building a lead would go a long way in getting in and out of D.C. healthy. It’ll be interesting to see how aggressive Kyle Shanahan is on a short week. But the 49ers only know how to play one way offensively this season.
The only thing preventing the 49ers from scoring 30 points this season has been multiple turnovers. If Brock Purdy can protect the ball and avoid passes tipped in the air, the Niners should have success offensively.
On the other side of the ball, Sam Howell has struggled tremendously under pressure. It should be a day for the Niners pass rush to get back on track and force Howell into mistakes.
