Dominick Puni was recognized for his stellar rookie season. Brock Purdy also received a pay bump
The NFL releases the top 25 for performance-based pay from the previous season around this time every year. The San Francisco 49ers had a pair of players crack the list. Rookie Dominick Puni came in at No. 11.
Puni’s efforts in 2024 netted him an additional $898,036 in the performance-based pay formula. Puni stepped in early in training camp after injuries at right guard and never looked back. He started every practice and game from that point on. Puni was comfortably the 49ers best offensive lineman for much of the season. He hit a bit of a rookie wall around December, which is to be expected. But for the first 11 games of the season, Puni was one of the most consistent players on the 49ers.
49ers quarterback Brock Purdy came in at No. 16 on the list. He picked up an additional $857,842 for his 2024 season.
Purdy walked into a situation in 2024 that looked nothing like his surroundings from the season prior. So, it’s hardly surprising that his numbers dipped across the board when the talent wasn’t there. Many are waiting on pins and needles to see what Purdy’s contract extension looks like, from the dollar signs to the guarantees to how many years he’ll be under contract.
The 49ers commitment to Purdy will tell us how they feel about their quarterback.
