49ers head coach Kyle Shanahan said linebacker Dre Greenlaw checked out OK
San Francisco 49ers head coach Kyle Shanahan provided injury updates for linebackers Dre Greenlaw and Dee Winters, as well as safety Ji’Ayir Brown.
Brown will be day-to-day with a groin injury. The same applies to Winters, who left Thursday night with a neck injury. Meanwhile, Greenlaw’s knee checked out after having soreness. He’ll also be day-to-day. Shanahan said Greenlaw “should be good going forward.”
Trent Williams is attempting to come back from an ankle injury that’s sidelined him since Week 11. Here’s what Shanahan said:
“He’s trying to get back. It’s been a frustrating injury for him. It hasn’t healed like he or we would have liked. Trent’s doing everything he can to get back, but he is injured. It’s been a lot slower than anticipated.” Shanahan is hopeful that ten days in between games will give Williams an opportunity to play in Week 16.
There was “no report of anything” relating to Nick Bosa. Shanahan said Bosa didn’t mention any soreness or anything injury-related. He’ll likely be off the injury report.
Doomsday awaits for De’Vondre Campbell
Shanahan was mostly asked about linebacker De’Vondre Campbell. When asked if Campbell would be on the team in Week 16 and beyond, Shanahan promptly responded, “No, I don’t.”
Campbell’s release is inevitable at this point. Shanahan said, “We’re working through the semantics of exactly how to deal with it,” and said the 49ers will “handle the situation appropriately.”
Here’s more from Shanahan on Campbell: “I mean, you guys heard from me last night. You guys heard from our players. His actions from the game is not something you can do to your team or your teammates and still expect to be a part of our team.”
The 49ers defense looked the best they had all season against the run without Campbell on the field.
