The 49ers playoff hopes continue to drop in a major way.
One week after a disappointing 20-17 loss to the Seattle Seahawks, things didn’t get much better for the San Francisco 49ers, who suffered an ugly 38-10 loss at the hands of the Green Bay Packers, dropping to 5-6 on the season.
This one wasn’t pretty from the jump, as San Francisco gave up scores on each of Green Bay’s first three drives, never leading in the blowout loss.
Sunday was a crucial game for the 49ers when it came to the NFL playoff picture, as they had a big chance to pull off an upset and stay alive in the NFC, both within the conference race and inside their own division
Instead, they did exactly the opposite and remained in fourth place in the NFC West with a 5-6 record, while inching further and further from the playoffs.
Overall, where do the 49ers playoff odds stand after Sunday’s loss to the Packers?
Looking from an NFC perspective, San Francisco has dropped to having the sixth-best odds to come out of the NFC after ranking third last weekend, with the Detroit Lions, Philadelphia Eagles, Packers, Minnesota Vikings, and Atlanta Falcons all above the 49ers.
Still, the 49ers were underdogs to come out of the NFC West last weekend, ranking second with +270 odds behind the Arizona Cardinals, and that is surely to change after this weekend’s games close with yet another loss this season.
Things don’t get easier for San Francisco next week as they face the 9-2 Buffalo Bills on the road with uncertainties surrounding a number of their injured stars. San Francisco has opened as 5.5-point underdogs to the Bills, with the over/under set at 46.5 points.
Do the 49ers have a rapid turnaround in them? Regardless, it may not be enough, as San Francisco likely has to go 5-1 to end the year, and hasn’t shown any evidence they can do that as of late.
