The 49ers were blown out on the road for the second consecutive week.
Well, things didn’t get any easier for the San Francisco 49ers this weekend, as they dropped a 35-10 game to the Buffalo Bills just one week after losing 38-10 to the Green Bay Packers.
After some early hope, the 49ers quickly started to collapse, as Josh Allen and the Bills took over with a number of scoring drives, while San Francisco couldn’t overcome a number of early missed opportunities.
With the loss, the 49ers now stand at 5-7, with every game essentially serving as a must-win from this point onwards.
Overall, where do the 49ers playoff odds stand after Sunday’s loss to the Bills?
Two weeks ago, the 49ers ranked second with +270 odds to win the NFC West behind the Arizona Cardinals. However, things have significantly changed for the 49ers. Following the blowout loss to Green Bay last week, San Francisco saw its odds deteriorate to the worst in the division at +600.
Well, they just got significantly worse with them dropping to having sole possession of last place in the NFC, as the 49ers now have +1400 odds to win the NFC West this year, easily the worst mark in the division. The Seattle Seahawks rank at the top following their win this week, with the Cardinals and Los Angeles Rams coming shortly after.
The 49ers currently stand two games out of the division, and the biggest aspect is that they couldn’t pull away with the tiebreaker because they have losses to all three conference opponents this year.
Next week, San Francisco will look to snap their recent losing streak when they return home to face the Chicago Bears, who stand at 4-8 and are losers of six straight. The 49ers come into that one as 5.5-point favorites, with the over/under standing at 44.5 points.
Can the 49ers start off a run and get some momentum to end the year?
