49ers head coach Kyle Shanahan said Nick Bosa can take up to kickoff if he needs to determine whether he’ll play or not
San Francisco 49ers head coach Kyle Shanahan provided injury reports ahead of Wednesday’s practice. Here is who will not participate:
LT Trent Williams (ankle)
DT Kevin Givens (groin)
RB Christian McCaffrey (rest/Achilles)
DE Nick Bosa (hip/oblique)
LB Tatum Bethune (knee)
When asked whether Bosa would play Sunday against the Green Bay Packers, Shanahan said: “Oh, he definitely could be good for Sunday, and he definitely could not be good for Sunday. That’s why I don’t think about it yet.
It’s similar to the Tampa week. When you got guys who are hurting, I don’t ask them if they’re going to play. I don’t ask them after the game on Sunday; I don’t ask them on Monday when they’re too hurt to practice on Wednesday.
When it comes to a guy like Bosa, when it comes to a guy like Trent, their position, the veterans they are, how they play, those guys have all the way to kickoff. Towards the end of the week, I’ll have a better feel. And that’s when he’ll have a better feel. Then, we’ll discuss.”
The following players will be limited:
WR Jacob Cowing (protocol)
TE George Kittle (hamstring)
CB Mooney Ward (personal)
QB Brock Purdy (shoulder)
Shanahan said “not much right now” when asked about his level of concern for Purdy’s availability for Week 12: “He’s limited today, so I think that’s good news.”
Ward returns to practice, but Shanahan is unsure about his status: “Having a good player like Mooney out there always helps, but this will be his first practice in a while, so I really don’t have any expectations of it. Gonna take it slow, see how he is out there today. Watch him throughout the week and, communicate with him throughout the week, and make a decision how we get closer to game time.”
George Kittle told the media that he’s playing this Sunday: “I will be playing on Sunday. Very excited, can’t pass up playing the Packers. I will be out there for sure. Get to practice today, and it’ll be very fun and exciting.”
