Aaron Banks and Ambry Thomas are active
We are about an hour and a half away from kickoff. The San Francisco 49ers fly across country for the dreaded morning start for a West Coast team. Here’s a look at the inactive list for the Niners:
TE Ross Dwelley
QB Brandon Allen
OL Jaylon Moore
DT Arik Armstead
S Ji’Ayir Brown
WR Jauan Jennings
LB Jalen Graham
That means the 49ers will start a third different strong safety this year with Brown inactive. That player is most likely to be Logan Ryan, with Isaiah Oliver as the emergency safety.
Ambry Thomas is active, so San Francisco can remain consistent at cornerback. We’ll see if the plan is to work Jason Verrett in at nickel for the second week in a row.
Aaron Banks is also active, so the starting offensive line remains intact.
Jacoby Brissett was named the starter by the Washington Commanders earlier in the week. Then, during Thursday’s practice, Brissett suffered a hamstring injury. So the 49ers will face Sam Howell and Jake Fromm will back him up. Brissett is inactive and officially the emergency quarterback, like Allen.
