Patrick Taylor Jr. was a big part of the 49ers special teams during the first half of season
The San Francisco 49ers running back room isn’t as much of a question mark, with Christian McCaffrey set to return in 2025. Jordan Mason is a restricted free agent, and how the Niners elect to handle his tag remains to be seen. Isaac Guerendo is coming off a rookie season with a handful of highlight plays.
The 49ers are bringing back a player who had been on their practice squad for much of the season before being promoted later in the year. Per his agency, Equity Sports, running back Patrick Taylor has agreed to a one-year extension with the Niners.
Taylor was heavily involved on the 49ers special teams during the first half of the season. He played on each coverage unit. Kyle Shanahan was complimentary of Taylor whenever given the opportunity.
Taylor signed with the 49ers last offseason after he was Jordan Love’s third-down back in Green Bay. Taylor will earn his roster spot on special teams in 2025.
