The “College GameDay” crew made its first-ever trip out to Berkeley, California this weekend and the atmosphere couldn’t have been more electric.
Golden Bears fans packed the campus square for ESPN’s beloved CFB pregame show this morning ahead of Cal’s massive showdown vs. Cam Ward and the 5-0 Miami Hurricanes.
Pat McAfee had the crowd in the palm of his hand throughout the network’s telecast and even broke out the “USA” chant at one point after whipping the students up into a frenzy.
“We’ve got engineers, we’ve got doctors, we’ve got economists — we’ve got real tests that have real, real implications happening… And all these sons of [expletives] said ‘Give me College GameDay!’ instead of studying,” McAfee said. “I had some questions coming out here to Berkeley. But after experiencing it, it is very evident that this one of the best cities in this here United States of America.”

It didn’t take long for the moment to receive a ton of engagement on social media:
“Love him or hate him he’s electric and crowds love him,” a user posted.
“Pat can simply work a crowd. He is the man,” a fan said.
“Exciting times for Cal!” another replied. “Game day energy is unmatched, especially for the first one ever! Can’t wait to see the team in action. Go Bears!”
“Well done Pat! And well done Cal!” another person commented.
“Pat McAfee bringing the HEAT! Energy unmatched, memories made! What a day to be a fan.”
Cal and Miami will meet each other in the late, late window at 10:30 PM ET on ESPN.
The Canes enter this one as 10-point favorites but there’s something interesting going on this year at California Memorial Stadium.
At 3-1, the Golden Bears are off to their best start under Justin Wilcox in two years.
