Fresh off their second loss in a row, the USC Trojans will head into their road game against Pac-12 rival Cal without their head coach leading them for multiple practices.
According to Connor Morrissette of USCFootball.com, Riley has missed their second straight day of practice due to an illness. Per the report, his status for the Cal game is uncertain.
Riley is currently day-to-day with this unspecified illness.
In his absence, wide receivers coach Dennis Simmons is serving as acting head coach and is addressing the media on his behalf. Offensive assistant and former Arizona Cardinals head coach Kliff Kingsbury is considered a candidate for promotion to acting assistant if Riley misses the game.

The Trojans’ recent losses to Notre Dame and Utah have seen their ranking tumble from top 10 to No. 24.
Fortunately for them, they can reclaim their spot at the top of the ranking if they can shock the world with a win over Washington in the first weekend of November, followed by Oregon.
USC close out the season with three straight games against top 25 teams. So they can totally right the ship over the next four weeks.
Will Lincoln Riley be with his team this weekend?
