The Notre Dame Fighting Irish are reportedly looking to bring two more academic powers to the ACC, per Rivals.com’s Larry Williams.
According to Williams, Notre Dame is “pushing hard” for the additions of Stanford and Cal as a full voting member of the conference.
Am told Notre Dame, as a full voting member of the ACC, is pushing hard for the additions of Stanford and Cal. That “full voting member” part is … something. Writing on this shortly.

With four Pac-12 teams left after CFB’s latest conference realignment, Stanford and Cal remain two big brands with high academic standards that could add value to any league they decide to join.
It should be noted that Notre Dame remains an independent in football, while all of its other sports are ACC members. However, the school is still considered a full voting member when it comes to some of the conference’s biggest decisions.
As the media rights landscape continues to change, Notre Dame could likely hold out until its contract with NBC runs out; allowing the Irish to cash in big as the last major brand on the market.
