The Stanford Cardinal may not be a “blue blood” college football program, but they’re one with a rich history and a lot of tradition.
So when you see crowds like these… you have to wonder what’s going on with Troy Taylor’s team.
It’s definitely a hot one out in Cali today. But it’s still pretty shocking when you can count the number of folks in the stands in any given part of the stadium (and they’re wearing the opposing school’s colors).
Temperatures in the 90s at Stanford today. Probably more VT fans than Stanford. A decent number of people taking refuge in the shade. @EmptySeatsPics pic.twitter.com/awewJHwta9

“In Palo Alto at the Stanford football game. Half the stadium is empty. The other half are Hokie fans. The PA guy said ‘go,’ crowd supposed to say Stanford, but a loud ‘Hokies’ instead,” a user posted to X.
“Ummmm. Just got back from a long drive, and #Stanford…do y’all not go to football games or what?” another asked. “That crowd is #Vandy pathetic.”
“This is the worst crowd ever in Stanford!” a fan said. “#LetsGoHokies.”
“Nice Virginia Tech home crowd at Stanford today,” another person pointed out.
“This crowd at Stanford is sad,” another user admitted.
It also doesn’t help that Stanford is down 21-7 in the second half to a VA Tech team that’s under .500.
The two students and pair of parents in attendance will try to spark their Cardinal to a victory with just under 10 minutes remaining.
