The college football world is hoping for the best after one of the longest tenured head coaches in the sport suffered a serious accident this past week.
Dartmouth head coach Eugene “Buddy” Teevens was injured on Thursday in a bicycle accident in Florida. He remains hospitalized in Florida and updates will be shared by Teevens’ family at their discretion.
Teevens has been the head coach of the Dartmouth Big Green since 2005 but has enjoyed stints at numerous colleges through the years. Eli Manning, who visited Teevens at Tulane when he was younger, was among the first to offer thoughts and prayers for the injured coach.
“Thoughts and prayers are with Coach Teevens and his family. I have known Coach since I was 12 years old when I attended Tulane football camp. There is not a better man,” Manning wrote.

Oh gosh. I absolutely hate to hear this. Buddy Teevens was really good to me when I covered Dartmouth’s Ivy League title team in 2021. Thinking of him and hoping for the best. https://t.co/fJYhsI1P81

Buddy Teevens has been a head coach since the mid-1980s with stints at Maine, Tulane and Stanford to go with his two separate runs as head coach of Dartmouth.
Teevens has had his most success with the Big Green though, going 117-101-2 in 23 seasons with five Ivy League conference titles. He is 151–178–2 overall.
We’re all wishing Coach Teevens a full recovery. Get well soon, coach!
