ESPN College GameDay is getting a new cast member for the upcoming college football season.
On Thursday, ESPN announced that “Stanford Steve” Coughlin will be joining College GameDay as the show’s betting analyst for the 2023 college football season.
Coughlin will fill the role previously held by “The Bear” Chris Fallica, who moved to Fox Sports for the coming season.
ESPN senior vice president of production Lee Fitting welcomed Coughlin to the show and looks forward to seeing how well he fits in with the show.
“Anyone who has met Stanford Steve knows how passionate he is about college football. Adding him to College GameDay will be a great fit as we tap into both his knowledge of the sport and his betting expertise every week to serve all of our loyal fans,” Fitting said in a statement.
In the same announcement, Coughlin said he’s loved College GameDay since he was a tight end at Stanford and is excited to join them in Week 1 at Charlotte.
“Thinking back, getting up early and watching College GameDay during my playing days at Stanford was part of the routine,” Coughlin said. “I’m jacked up to be part of this crew. Charlotte, let’s bring it Week 1!”
Welcome to the team, @StanfordSteve82! 🎉
