Purdue’s Mary Ashley Stevenson has reportedly found a new basketball home.
On Tuesday, Kate Paye and the Stanford Cardinal revealed the news of another big transfer portal addition by landing the Boilermakers’ Big Ten Freshman of the Year.
“Mary Ashley is another fantastic addition to our program, someone who is fiercely competitive and works incredibly hard to improve each day,” Paye said, via the team’s website.
“She embraces everything that Stanford has to offer, is diligent in the classroom and a dedicated student of the game. She is mature for a young player and does not back down from a challenge. We are thrilled that she decided Stanford is the place for her and are excited to welcome her into the fold,” the coach concluded.
This comes just one day after Stanford landed two-time All-WCC first-team guard Tess Heal from Santa Clara.
Stevenson started 33 games for Purdue last season and averaged just under 10 points per game along with 5.1 rebounds and an assist. In addition to being named Freshman of the Year, the 6-foot-2 forward also earned Big Ten All-Freshman Team honors and was voted an All-Big Ten honorable mention.
She’ll attempt to keep the Cardinal’s program alive and well in the post-Tara VanDerveer era.
