The latest injuries for Wednesday’s game between Golden State and Oklahoma City.
The Oklahoma City Thunder may be on top of the Western Conference, but the Golden State Warriors got the better of the matchup when the two teams faced off earlier this year. Unlike in that game, the Dubs get to play at home when they face the Thunder tonight, in a 7:00 p.m. PT game that’s televised on ESPN. But despite the home-court advantage, the Warriors are at a disadvantage, as they’ll be without their best player, Steph Curry.
Here’s the full injury report for tonight’s matchup.
Warriors
Out — Steph Curry (bilateral knee patellofemoral pain)
That’s a scary sounding injury, but have no fear. According to The Athletic’s Anthony Slater, Curry’s ailment is really just an accumulation of wear and tear rather than an injury per se, and Golden State is just looking to get him some rest and healing.
Out — De’Anthony Melton (left ACL sprain)
Melton will, sadly, be a staple of these reports until the end of the season, barring a trade. He’s out for the year.
Questionable — Jonathan Kuminga (illness)
It seems that when the Warriors get sick, they get really sick. Kuminga was compromised in Friday’s game, and has sat the last two games due to an illness. Hopefully he’s healthy enough to enjoy a big feast on Thursday!
Thunder
Out — Chet Holmgren (right iliac wing fracture)
Holmgren was injured the last time the Warriors and Thunder played, and while it looked like a bad stinger at the time, it turned out to be a serious injury. The young star is out until at least January.
Out — Alex Caruso (right hip strain)
We know that Steve Kerr loves Caruso, but the Warriors won’t have a chance to see how their former trade target performs tonight. Caruso, acquired in an offseason trade with Chicago, has missed four of OKC’s last six games.
Out — Jaylin Williams (right hamstring strain)
To quote Bob Fitzgerald, this is Arkansas Jaylin Williams, not Santa Clara Jalen Williams. This Williams is a quality player in his own right, but not the budding star that will actually suit up. Unfortunately, Arkansas Jaylin Williams sustained a preseason injury and has yet to make his third-season debut.
Out — Ousmane Dieng (right ring finger small fracture)
Dieng (no relation to Gorgui) is still trying to carve out a role in his third NBA season, after being a late-lottery pick in 2022. But for now he’s focused on getting healthy, after suffering a finger fracture last week.
Out — Nikola Topić (left knee surgery)
Fun fact, Topić is one of four players named “Nikola ___ić” currently in the NBA. Unfortunately, the 12th overall pick in June’s draft will have to wait until next season to make his NBA debut, after undergoing surgery in July to repair a torn ACL.
Questionable — Adam Flagler (right hand contusion)
Flagler, who is on a two-way contract, is trying to prove he belongs in the NBA. An undrafted player, Flagler played in just two games during his rookie season last year, but has appeared in nine this season, though almost exclusively in garbage time.
Enjoy the action, Dub Nation!
