The full injury report for Monday’s game between Golden State and Brooklyn.
The Golden State Warriors are back in action tonight, and looking to bounce back from Saturday’s collapse against the San Antonio Spurs. The Dubs have yet to lose consecutive games yet this season, and they’ll try to keep that trend alive as they host the Brooklyn Nets.
Brooklyn is limping into the Chase Center, so the Warriors have a fairly strong advantage in the health department. Here’s the full injury report for both teams.
Warriors
Out — De’Anthony Melton (left ACL sprain)
I’ve only had to write this a few times since news broke of Melton’s season-ending surgery, but it’s already making me sad.
Questionable — Jonathan Kuminga (illness)
Kuminga missed Saturday’s game with an illness, and he’s in danger of missing this game as well. Hopefully he’s back to 100% soon.
Nets
Out — Ben Simmons (lower back injury management)
The Nets are frantically trying to get their All-Star back on track after a few lost years. After earning MVP votes, finishing runner-up in Defensive Player of the Year voting, and making the All-Star team in the 2020-21 season (with the 76ers), Simmons has completely fallen off. Over the next three years, he played in just 57 games, and averaged 6.7 points, 6.7 rebounds, and 6.0 assists per contest. He’s been a little more healthy this year, and this will be his fifth absence of the season, but the numbers are still right in line with his drop-off, not his surge to stardom.
Out — Bojan Bogdanović (left foot injury recovery)
Bogdanović has torched the Dubs on a few occasions, but he won’t be able to tonight. He has yet to make his season debut.
Out — Dorian Finney-Smith (left ankle sprain)
Finney-Smith has found a nice home in Brooklyn, and has been a key part of the team’s starting lineup when healthy. But he missed the Nets win yesterday, and he’ll miss this game, too.
Out — Noah Clowney (left ankle sprain)
After playing just 23 games last year, the 2023 first-round pick (No. 21 overall) has been a solid contributor off of Brooklyn’s bench in his second season. But ankle sprains come for all basketball players at some point or another.
Out — Day’Ron Sharpe (left hamstring strain)
Sharpe has yet to make his fourth-season debut, but he’s getting closer to being cleared to play.
Questionable — Dennis Schrōder (right ankle soreness)
Schrōder has earned a big role in Brooklyn, where he’s averaging a career-high 34.3 minutes per game, and his highest points per game total (17.2) since the 2019-20 season. Even though he’s not a star, I always enjoy watching Schrōder and Steph Curry battle, though we may not get to see that tonight.
Probable — Trendon Watford (left hamstring strain injury recovery)
Watford missed the first 13 games of the season, but he’s played in the last four. If he suits up tonight, it will be his first back-to-back of the season.
And that’s the injury report. Enjoy the game, Dub Nation!
