The full injury report for Thursday’s game between Golden State and Chicago.
The Golden State Warriors lost 123-117 to the Sacramento Kings on Wednesday night, in a game that was somehow both encouraging and deflating. They get no time to mope though, as they’re back in action tonight, hosting the Chicago Bulls with a chance to put yesterday’s disappointing outcome behind them.
As has been the case in most of their recent games, the Warriors are missing a whole bunch of key players, while facing a team whose rotation is mostly at full strength. But in good news, Kevon Looney — who left Wednesday’s game at halftime due to an illness — is good to go against Chicago. And in even better news, Brandin Podziemski — who has missed 12 consecutive games — is also off the injury report, and will make his 2025 debut. How great that will be to see.
Here’s the full injury report.
Warriors
Out — Draymond Green (left calf strain)
Green is likely going to miss a few more games. He injured his calf on Saturday, and was initially listed as likely to be out for at least a week.
Out — Jonathan Kuminga (right ankle sprain)
The three-week point — the initial low end of Kuminga’s return timetable — is about to be reached for JK. Unfortunately, Steve Kerr said earlier this week that Kuminga isn’t close to returning. Anyone who has watched the Warriors recently groaned when they heard that news, because my goodness do the Dubs need his scoring back.
Out — Kyle Anderson (left gluteal bursitis)
That’s all three of the power forwards on the initial depth chart that are still sidelined. Thankfully, Gui Santos has been up to the challenge of filling in, while Kerr is starting to play Moses Moody more at the four.
Questionable — Steph Curry (bilateral knee injury management)
Curry hasn’t been playing back-to-backs lately, but it seems there’s a chance that will end tonight. That sure would be nice!
Questionable — Trayce Jackson-Davis (right ankle sprain)
TJD had a good game against Sacramento but, whether or not he plays, you can expect to see a few more minutes at the five for rookie Quinten Post.
Questionable — Lindy Waters III (left shoulder strain)
Waters hasn’t been playing his best lately, but with so many injured players, his depth sure is important. Hopefully he’s able to go.
Probable — Moses Moody (left knee patellar tendonopathy)
Moody’s minutes have been ramping up lately, half due to his strong play and half due to the team’s injuries. He’s averaged 27.8 minutes over the last four games. However, that may be causing a little soreness to his knee that his given him issues this year.
Probable — Gary Payton II (illness)
First Green, then Looney, now GPII. Illness is striking the locker room!
Anyway, eight of the Warriors’ 16 players are on the injury report, which doesn’t even include the player who was sick yesterday or the player who is making a return after a nearly month-long absence. Not ideal!
Bulls
Out — Torrey Craig (right ankle sprain)
Craig’s second year with the Bulls hasn’t gone according to plan. He’s only appeared in nine games, and is averaging a career-low 12.6 minutes per game. He hasn’t yet played in January, and has only played in three games since November.
Out — Chris Duarte (personal reasons)
As always, we hope that everything is okay with Duarte and his family.
Questionable — Coby White (right ankle soreness)
It took a while, but the 2019 lottery pick has quietly actualized his potential. Over the last two seasons, White has been averaging 18.8 points and 5.0 assists, while shooting 37.1% from deep and playing his usual excellent defense. If he can’t play, that would be a huge break for the Dubs.
Questionable — Ayo Dosunmu (right soleus strain)
Dosunmu has also quietly turned into a quality player, but he’s had a hard time staying healthy as of late. He’s played in just three of Chicago’s last 14 games.
The action tips off at Chase Center at 7:00 p.m. PT on NBC Sports Bay Area. Enjoy the game, Dub Nation!
