The Warriors newest young standout will be repping the team.
The Golden State Warriors have seen some promising flashes from rookie center Quinten Post this season. While Post has been a solid role player over the past couple weeks with the NBA roster, he has put up some exceptional numbers in the G-League. That performance has earned him an opportunity to participate in NBA All-Star Weekend. Post has been selected to represent the Warriors representative in the G-League Up Next Game. Danny Emerman of The Bay Area News Group first reported Post’s selection.
The Warriors selected Post with the 52nd overall pick in the 2024 NBA Draft out of Boston College. An Amsterdam native, Post spent the first two seasons of his college career at Mississippi State, but never played a prominent role on the team. After transferring to Boston College, Post began playing more than 20 minutes per game. In his last collegiate season, he averaged 17.0 points, 8.1 rebounds, 2.9 assists, 1.7 blocks, and 0.9 steals in 31.9 minutes per game on .514/.431/.821 shooting.
While Post started the season extremely buried on the Warriors depth chart, but capitalized on his playing time in the G-League. In 17 games with the Santa Cruz Warriors, Post has recorded 19.4 points, 9.6 rebounds, 1.9 assists, and 1.0 block per game (17 games) on .519/.352/.784 shooting.
As Golden State continued to struggle offensively and dealt with a bevy of injuries, head coach Steve Kerr gave Post his first opportunity in the rotation. In the past seven games, Post has played nearly 16 minutes per game, averaging 8.7 points, 3.2 rebounds, and 2.0 assists on .452/.393/1.000.
Post’s productive rookie campaign may not earn him any lofty NBA awards, but his steady rise will give him an opportunity to participate in the All-Star festivities in the Bay Area.
