The Golden State Warriors are on track to acquire Dennis Schroder from the Brooklyn Nets in exchange for De’Anthony Melton.
The Warriors have just enough room under their first-apron hard cap to fit Schroder’s $13 million salary in place of Melton’s $12.8 million salary. Both Schroder and Melton are on expiring contracts, so there is no impact salary-wise beyond this season for either team.
Golden State is reportedly sending Brooklyn three second-round picks in addition to Melton, per ESPN’s Shams Charania. Melton is out for the season after having surgery on a partially torn left ACL.
Schroder has averaged 18.4 points, 6.6 assists and 1.1 steals for Brooklyn this season. The veteran guard is shooting 45.2% from the field, including 38.7% on 6.5 three-point attempts per game.
