The Golden State Warriors named Jess Smith as the president of its new WNBA team on Tuesday.
Smith was previously the head of revenue for the Angel City Football Club.
“This is just a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity with this ownership group. They invest. What they’ve been able to do here, not only with owning the Warriors but in building Chase Center, and who they are in this region and globally as sports owners, and now bringing them into women’s sports through WNBA,” said Smith.
The WNBA team, which is set to start play in 2025, does not yet have a name.
