The NBA Trade Deadline is a little over 24 hours away, but we have already seen a lot of major moves. Luka Doncic, Anthony Davis, De’Aaron Fox, Zach LaVine, Kyle Kuzma, and Khris Middleton are all on new teams, and there remains plenty of time left before the deadline. Additionally, there are plenty of other big names to monitor in the trade market. This includes players like Kevin Durant, Jimmy Butler, and Brandon Ingram. However, there is reportedly another major name to keep an eye on–Golden State Warriors veteran Draymond Green.
According to The Athletic’s Sam Amick, the Warriors have talked about moving on from Green.

“[The Warriors] are in the middle of this desperate time where they’re trying to get another star and, as of yesterday, we’re looking at it going, ‘Oh boy, they might actually get off Draymond,’ or do something like that where the loyalty questions come into play with a situation like that too. I don’t think that’s going to happen, but it’s 100% been discussed internally.”

The Golden State Warriors Have Interest in a Kevin Durant Trade
So far, multiple reports have suggested that the Warriors have interest in a reunion with Durant. The Texas alum spent three seasons with the team between 2016 and 2019 and won two championships with them. Nothing is imminent, but if the Warriors land Durant, it is fair to assume Green would be involved in the trade.
Additionally, ESPN’s Brian Windhorst recently spoke about Durant potentially rejoining the Warriors. While he would not predict that Durant will return to Golden State, Windhorst acknowledged that it is a real possibility.

“[The Suns] have now begun entertaining, ‘Should we trade Kevin Durant?’ and they have begun those discussions…So now, we have the Warriors and Suns discussing the possibility of bringing Kevin Durant back…I am not going to sit here and even begin to project or guess as to how this may go down. Is it possible that Kevin Durant could be traded to the Warriors? Yes. Will it happen? I’m not afraid to say I don’t know,” Windhorst said.
“The only things I can tell you that I can say for sure is that tomorrow afternoon, Devin Booker will be on the Suns, because I think that’s the only guarantee, and Stephen Curry will be on the Warriors. After that, I can’t promise you anything.”
The Last Word
Green is currently in his 13th season in Golden State. With the Warriors, he became a defensive anchor and a four-time champion. He has played an essential role in the Warriors’ dynasty and is potentially a future Hall of Famer. Despite this, the Warriors are struggling. Though they had a hot start, they are now just 25-24 and own the No. 10 seed in the West. As they aim for a playoff push, a major trade might make sense for the team. And if that means moving on from Green, that seems like a legitimate possibility.
