The Warriors may have dodged a bullet. What looked like it could have been a bad injury to their star Stephen Curry, may have only minor repercussions. Curry had a hard fall in the Warriors’ win over the Toronto Raptors on Thursday and missed the rest of the game. He was later diagnosed with a pelvic contusion with no structural damage. This was huge for the Warriors as they are in the middle of a hot streak and are looking to continue their climb up the Western Conference standings. Shams Charania recently provided further Stephen Curry injury news that should have Warriors’ fans optimistic about their star’s chances at a timely return. The question then becomes whether the Warriors should play things safe and give Curry extra rest in preparation for what they are hoping is another run at an NBA championship.

Stephen Curry Injury Update Brings Relief to Warriors’ Fans
When Curry went down in the Raptors game, some fans expected the worst. Now it seems like Curry won’t be missing too many games. Sharama reported that Curry is traveling to Miami with the team and may play depending on his response to treatment over the next couple days. With the Warriors still near the beginning of a six-game road trip, this is about as good of news as could be expected.
Even with the addition of Jimmy Butler, the Warriors will obviously need Curry in order to make any significant noise this postseason. Whether he can return before the Heat game or not remains to be seen. Still, the fact that he is on the path to recovery is huge.
Stephen Curry is traveling to join the Warriors in Miami, and his status for Tuesday’s game against the Heat depends on treatment response for his pelvic bruise over next two days, sources tell ESPN. Golden State is on game two of a six-game trip. https://t.co/SA3Tsrz51A

Warriors Show Weakness Without Curry
Although the Warriors have been fairly solid when Curry has missed time this season, their recent loss to the Atlanta Hawks showed just how badly they need him. They went down early in the first quarter and were never able to regain footing. They lost the game 124-115 despite 20-point games from Butler and Moses Moody.
Curry often plays the entire first quarter for the Warriors. Without him, the Warriors went down 40-23 and couldn’t recover. If Curry misses the Heat game, the Warriors will need to find a way to get off to a better start so they aren’t playing catch-up all game.
Curry’s Health Should Be a Concern
There’s little doubt that with Curry on the floor, the Warriors could have beaten the Hawks. Right now, every win matters. Every game that Curry misses is another opportunity for the Warriors to lose their current position as a six-seed. At the same time, the Warriors need to focus their efforts on making sure Curry is healthy for the playoffs.
So, even though Charania’s injury update on Curry is positive, the Warriors need to be careful. It could be worth giving Curry extra days off. That will better ensure that he isn’t entering the playoffs with minor injuries that could eventually add up. The Warriors will be walking a fine line with Curry’s health for the remainder of the season.
