Golden State has their work cut out for them for 2024.
Pound for pound, inch for inch, baller for baller, is there a tougher division than the Pacific? Four California teams and an Arizona team are star studded with certified Hall-of-Famers, budding young talent, and feisty vets looking to make a difference.
And last season, every single team in the division made the playoffs. With a division this competitive, there’s a lot of opportunities for development ahead of the postseason. Also, there’s plenty of possible losses ahead for these divisional foes as they battle it out with each other.
Last season, the Sacramento Kings were the Pacific Division champions. Here’s how the standings shook out last year:
- Sacramento Kings 48-34
- Phoenix Suns 45-37
- Los Angeles Clippers 44-38
- Golden State Warriors 44-38
- Los Angeles Lakers 43-39
The Kings met the Warriors in a first round bloodbath that the Dubs emerged victorious from. In that same round, the Suns and the Clippers met, with Phoenix winning in five games. After that the Lakers wiped out the Dubs in six games in the second round. Divisional cannabalism!
As it stands right now on the last day of the year, here are the current Pac Div standings:
- Clippers 19-12
- Kings 18-12
- Suns 16-15
- Lakers 17-16
- Warriors 15-17
15-17 is notttt the record the Dubs would like to have after 32 games. But they are only 4.5 games back from the best record in the division. Onward to 2023!
