The Golden State Warriors have been one of the more active teams on the trade market as they attempt to upgrade their roster around Stephen Curry. Sources tell Logan Murdock of The Ringer that Andrew Wiggins has been “aggressively” offered in trade discussions and are also “working hard” to trade Chris Paul. The Warriors own their first round picks outright from 2025 until 2029 that can be used in trades.
Paul’s $30 million salary becomes guaranteed for 24-25 if he is not waived by Friday. The Warriors and Paul could mutually agree to extend his guarantee date to give all parties more time to find a trade resolution.
The Warriors have been most closely linked to Paul George, who has until Saturday whether to orchestrate an opt-in-and-trade scenario, or become a free agent. The number of teams George can be traded to decreases dramatically if he becomes a free agent, though he will control the process. George continues to seek a four-year max contract from the Clippers with the expectation there are rival teams prepared to give one to him.
Wiggins and the Warriors agreed to a four-year, $109 million extension before the 22-23 season. Wiggins has subsequently left the Warriors multiple times to tend to a personal matter and his play has generally been uneven.
Wiggins, Paul and George are all CAA clients. Wiggins is represented by Drew Morrison and Steven Heumann. Paul is represented by Heumann and Ty Sullivan. George’s longtime agent is Aaron Mintz.
