Perhaps the biggest game of the season to date.
The Golden State Warriors have arguably their biggest game of the season tonight. A six-game road trip, which started poorly but has been turning around, heads to Graceland for a visit to their old rivals, the Memphis Grizzlies. While the Dubs are frantically trying to hang onto the sixth seed and keep the LA Clippers and Minnesota Timberwolves at bay — both teams are just a half-game behind Golden State — they’re also trying to move up in the standings.
The Grizzlies, reeling and dealing with the shocking dismissal of coach Taylor Jenkins, are now just a half-game ahead of the Warriors in the standings. With a win tonight, Golden State would take over the fifth seed, while also clinching the tiebreaker against Memphis should they end the year with identical records. Perhaps most critically, a win would give the Dubs a buffer team between their spot in the standings and a spot in the play-in tournament.
Given the importance, and given that Memphis has lost six of their last seven games, I think the Warriors will get the job done, but I’m curious to hear what Warriors fans think.
