The Golden State Warriors are keeping Steve Kerr as their head coach for the next two seasons.
Kerr is signing a two-year $35 million extension with the team after his former deal was set to expire at the end of this season. This extension will make him the highest-paid coach in NBA history.
Kerr is already one of the greatest coaches in NBA history. He’s won four NBA titles as head coach of the Warriors and his .655 winning percentage ranks fifth in NBA history. He’s also led the Warriors to six NBA Finals appearances.
His two-year extension also lines up with Steph Curry’s contract since Curry also has two years left on his deal.
Kerr is in his ninth season as head coach and has a 502-264 record. He’s trying to lead the team to the playoffs again this season but the Warriors currently sit at 10th in the Western Conference at 29-26.
Outside of his duties with the Warriors, he’s the head coach of the USA basketball team and will try to coach the team to a Gold Medal this summer. He’s had the since 2021 after he was hired to replace Gregg Popovich.
