Steve Kerr hailed Dennis Schroder’s perseverance as the veteran guard escaped a scary fall while driving to the basket. This was a distressful moment for Dub Nation, who already witnessed similar situations with the likes of Kevin Durant and Klay Thompson in the 2019 NBA Finals.

Fortunately, Schroder escaped in what could have been a freakish accident. Limping his way to the locker room, the German native would return to the bench with his left ankle wrapped up. To everyone’s surprise, he even checked back into the game.
Ironically, Schroder also recorded his Warriors high in points on Tuesday night. The six-foot-one guard posted 23 points, five rebounds, four assists, and three steals in a home win against the Utah Jazz. Going into the game, the Dubs were without Stephen Curry, Draymond Green, and Jonathan Kuminga.
Steve Kerr’s “Iron Man” Tag For Dennis Schroder
Evading a serious injury, the 31-year-old would return to the game, playing a critical role in the home win. Addressing the media postgame, coach Kerr was all praise for his guard, saying the following,
“One of the things I love about him is that he’s an iron man. He’s there for you every single night. We needed his scoring. We needed his leadership.”
After Schroder’s slow start in the Bay Area, he has been gaining momentum lately. The veteran guard is averaging 11.6 points, 4.0 assists, and 1.0 steals on close to 39% shooting from the three-point line in the last five games. Sadly, he holds a 9-12 record since joining the Warriors in December.
Amid rumors of Schroder being flipped in a trade, he seems to have elevated his game. The ex-Nets guard is bringing his veteran experience and skill set into play. Nonetheless, it will be interesting to see how further he sustains this run.
Budding Chemistry with Brandin Podziemski
Undermanned facing the Jazz, the duo of Schroder and Brandin Podziemski combined for 43 points. The two teammates seem to have developed a bond since their shared car ride from Sacramento. Podziemski, who is coming off an injury, revealed how the veteran’s advice impacted him and his newly found chemistry with Schroder.
“If you wanted me to be really honest with you, I think it was our car ride we had back from Sacramento. The game before I came back. He (Schroder) needed a ride home, and I took him home. We got to talk for an hour and a half, two hours, and just poured into each other some knowledge. He gave me a lot of advice because he’s been through a lot of things,” said the 21-year-old.

Podziemski added, “I think that bonded us closer, so I think I credit a lot to that. Obviously, everybody sees his play, but to be able to have an hour-and-a-half car ride with Dennis and just share information with each other, learn about each other, I think has helped us.”
The developing rapport between Schroder and Podziemski is a welcome sign for the Warriors. As the roster deals with injury issues, coupled with a 36-year-old Curry doing all the major lifting, this newfound duo comes as a breath of fresh air.
