Golden State Warriors superstar Stephen Curry was one of two special guests of the San Francisco Giants during yesterday’s ceremonial first pitch against the New York Yankees.
Prior to the game, Curry was invited to the pitcher’s mound to help civil rights activist Dr. Clarence B. Jones throw out the ceremonial first pitch. Dr. Jones was there as part of the Giants’ African-American Heritage Night.
“In celebration of African American Heritage Night, former speechwriter and counsel to Martin Luther King Jr., Dr. Clarence B. Jones, threw out tonight’s ceremonial first pitch. Joining Dr. Jones on the mound was his close friend @stephencurry30,” the team wrote on Instagram.

It was clearly a very special moment for Curry as he embraced the former speechwriter for Martin Luther King Jr. just before the national anthem. The team noted that the two are close friends.
As excited as Giants fans were to see Curry at the game, many were thrilled to see the 93-year-old civil rights activist taking the mound for the game.
“Every day amazing humans like Dr. Jones make our world better. Thank you, Dr. Jones,” one user wrote.
“Y’all are lucky to be in the same venue as this man,” another declared.
“aww, I would love to know what he said to Steph there at the end, can only imagine the wisdom,” wrote a third.
Truly a special night.
