Golden State Warriors guard Stephen Curry is in the midst of his 16th season in the league and has shown few signs of slowing down. He still remains far and away the best player on the team and is in a good spot for another All-NBA campaign. However, despite this, there is one major limitation to Curry’s season. Nearly halfway through the season, the two-time MVP has only played both games of a back-to-back once (November 22 and 23 against the New Orleans Pelicans and San Antonio Spurs, respectively). However, according to Curry himself, he is doing whatever he can to start regularly playing back-to-backs again.
“I’m doing everything in my power to play back-to-backs eventually. Whether that’s tomorrow or the next one, I don’t know,” Curry said.

Stephen Curry and the Warriors’ Rough Season
On the year, Curry is averaging 22.6 points, 5.1 rebounds, 6.1 assists, and 1.2 steals per game. Additionally, he is shooting 44.6% from the field and 41.1% from the three-point line. Despite these still being fantastic numbers, Curry is technically having a down year. Furthermore, the Warriors as a team are leaving a lot to be desired on the court.
To begin the year, the Warriors were 12-3 and looked destined for a dominant campaign. However, fast forward a couple of months, they are now 19-18 and are barely in the postseason picture as the No. 9 seed. Their defense is still great as their 111 DRTG ranks eighth in the league. However, the Warriors’ 20th-ranked offense has taken a huge hit.
Recently, Warriors reporter Dalton Johnson noted that Curry was “visibly deflated” after the team’s 30-point loss to the Sacramento Kings on January 5.
This is the most visibly deflated I’ve maybe ever seen. Last game after the loss to the Kings: Steph was walking to the locker room, looked at us, big sigh and went straight up to the interview room in full uniform
Usually showers, chats and then heads up. The body language and everything is clear

There is still a lot of basketball to be played. The season is far from over. However, the Warriors are not playing well right now. Whether they can turn things around is something worth monitoring.
The Warriors Are Going Big Man Hunting?
Naturally, the Warriors are popping up often in trade rumors. The NBA Trade Deadline is less than a month away, and there are some players the Warriors could have interest in. More specifically, the Warriors are reportedly eyeing a big man. The most popular and realistic name linked to Golden State is Chicago Bulls center Nikola Vučević. However, it is unclear how serious the Warriors are about acquiring the two-time All-Star.
As it stands, it seems likely the Warriors will make another trade at some point this season. The Warriors won a championship less than three years ago. However, a lot has changed for the team since then. In what could possibly be their final year of contention with Curry and Draymond Green, it makes sense for the team to maximize their championship window.
