The Golden State Warriors were relatively quiet at the NBA trade deadline last week, sending Cory Joseph and some other compensation to the Indiana Pacers as their only move. But rumors have emerged that LeBron James was a target of the Warriors before the deadline, a topic that was broached with Steph Curry today.
During today’s media session, Curry was asked to give his thoughts on the rumor that the Warriors were interested in LeBron. Curry said that he wasn’t as surprised to hear that there was interest as much as hearing a report like that go public.
The Warriors star explained that conversations like that are probably normal and since he doesn’t have any specifics, all he can say is it might have been nice to see it happen.
“No I’m never surprised. I’m just surprised that stuff like that gets out. I’m assuming that every team is making calls that, if every fan or every fanbase or media group knows about it, maybe normalize the conversation that happens… especially around the trade deadline… Obviously a guy like LeBron you probably call. I don’t know what the depth of the conversation were but it’s nice,” Curry said.
As quiet as the Warriors were at the deadline, you could hear a pin drop from the Lakers front office. They didn’t even do so much as a money moving trade at the deadline or even in the weeks leading up to it. All they really did was add Spencer Dinwiddie as a free agent after he was waived by the Raptors two days later.
Do you think the Warriors really had any serious interest in LeBron?
