One of the most beloved players to ever suit up for the Golden State Warriors is returning to the franchise for the 2021-22 season. On Friday, it was announced that Andre Iguodala is signing a one-year, veteran minimum contract with the Warriors.
Iguodala had an exceptional run with Golden State from 2013 to 2019. During those six seasons, Iguodala won three NBA championships and was even named Finals MVP once.
Prior to the start of the 2019-20 season, the Warriors traded Iguodala to the Memphis Grizzlies. He was then eventually traded to the Miami Heat, which worked out well for the veteran swingman since he made yet another Finals appearance.
Now that Iguodala’s career is almost over, he wants to spend one more season with Golden State. That’s music to Steph Curry’s ears, as the two-time MVP posted a video on Twitter of Iguodala’s best moments on the Warriors, along with the caption “Welcome back Pro!”

We’d imagine Iguodala is awfully excited to reunite with Curry. The sharpshooting point guard makes life much easier for his teammates, especially when he’s in rhythm.
What we do know for sure is that Iguodala can’t wait to play in front of Golden State’s fans again. When announcing his decision in an exclusive interview with Jonathan Abrams of the New York Times, he gave the fan base a shoutout.
“The relationship with the fans, the relationship with the Bay, the opportunity to end it here, was just something special,” Iguodala said.
Iguodala should be the backup small forward for the Warriors next season. Though his role might not be very large, he brings a lot of value to the team – on and off the court.
