Can the Dubs hot defense slow down Houston’s Jalen Green?
The Golden State Warriors hit the road today, taking on the Houston Rockets deep down in Texas. They have a 4-1 record, taking on a home team that has won 3 out of their 5 contests. The Rockets boast wins over the Memphis Grizzlies, San Antonio Spurs, and the Dallas Mavericks.
With Stephen Curry and De’Anthony Melton both listed as out for today’s game, there will plenty of opportunities for Dubs’ guards like Buddy Hield and Brandin Podziemski to get some shots up on a dangerous Rockets team.

The Warriors have been putting up some nice stats during their first five games of the season. Now I know this is where the pessimistic nerdboys crash through my wall like the Kool-Aid Man to make sure that I know that’s too small of a sample size to draw any real conclusions…but they literally have the #2 defense in the NBA right now.
The Warriors have the #2 defense through five games. Steve Kerr: “We are better able to stay in front of the ball this year. Because of that, we’re not having to get into rotations.” pic.twitter.com/4653VVSqaV

That defense will get a chance to be tested tonight, as they’ll have to find a way to keep the Rockets’ superscorer Jalen Green from going off. Per our blog buddy in Houston, The Dream Shake, Green is giving hints of All-Star:
Scoring 28.8 ppg, on 43.2 percent shooting, 41.3 percent from the three-point line and a true-shooting percentage of 58.3, Jalen hasn’t by any means been the model of efficiency, but for him, these numbers are very encouraging. Especially to be putting them up in October.
The best part about Jalen’s play so far this season is that he has played well in the moments that really count. Even in the Rockets losses. He is shooting 48.1 percent from the field in the fourth quarter and averaging a point per minute played with nine points-per-game in the final quarter.
If he can keep this up, which really is the question here, then Jalen Green and the Houston Rockets should be having success in the win-loss column, and he should be finding his name among potential All-Stars this season.
Ooo really? Let’s see if the Dubs can silence some of that All-Star attention tonight.
