The Golden State Warriors handled business on Friday night, handily beating the Portland Trail Blazers with a strong defensive showing, and setting up a huge Sunday showdown with the LA Clippers.

First quarter: ‘Fortunate to be ahead’

The Dubs started slow, and got a scare when Steph Curry injured his thumb. But they still led 26-20 after the first quarter.

Curry thankfully returned in the second quarter, and the Dubs got to cooking, building up a 50-37 halftime lead.

Solid defensive half, but our offense is still offensive. If we didn’t have Good Buddy tonight, we would be in a world of hurt. 6 points on 3 shots for JB – he has to be more aggressive. Just a real lack of energy on the offensive end.

Third quarter: ‘Time to rest Wardell’

The Dubs put the game away in the third quarter, setting up ample garbage time. They led by 20 points entering the final frame.

Fourth quarter: ‘If they lose, then they’re in the play-in’

With the outcome settled, attention shifted to watching Friday’s other games unfold, with the Clippers and Minnesota Timberwolves winning, but the Memphis Grizzlies losing. And fans started to think about tiebreaker scenarios on Sunday.
