The United States men’s basketball team didn’t look very sharp entering the Tokyo Olympics, dropping multiple exhibitions and their first pool-play game. And yet, Team USA managed to come together and claim another gold medal when it was all said and done.
After Team USA’s win over France on Saturday, Golden State Warriors forward Draymond Green called out all the naysayers who said this year’s squad wouldn’t be able to win the gold-medal match.
While there were countless skeptics who questioned Team USA’s talent and toughness this summer, Green decided to take aim specifically at ESPN’s Kendrick Perkins. He had a message for Perkins while on Instagram Live with Kevin Durant.
“Kendrick Perkins, you talk a lot of s***. A lot of s***” Green said. “Act like you’re American.”

Green continued his rant about Perkins during his postgame press conference this weekend.
“You turn on American sports talk TV, and you got guys like Kendrick Perkins, you know, doubting us,” Green told reporters. “Somebody needs to teach these people some loyalty. How about you cheer for your country? But then when guys don’t play, ‘Oh, you need to go represent the country.’ And then you lose, hit a little bump in the road. And everybody’s, ‘Oh, everybody’s caught America.’ You are an American, too. Act like it. Do your job. You know, I do some media stuff. I understand doing your job. But, when you talk about a special group, you better be sure you’re right.”
Durant also had a message for Team USA’s critics following Saturday’s win.
“They had some power rankings out. They had us fourth behind Slovenia. Come on, man,” Durant said. “Talking about they’re catching up to us, like are you serious? This skill is unmatched, you dig?”
Make no mistake, Team USA proved their doubters wrong at the Tokyo Olympics.
