The 2024 NBA free agency period is underway, and things are starting off awfully for the Golden State Warriors. It looks all but certain that they will lose one of the greatest players in franchise history, Klay Thompson, and that comes after waiving veteran point guard Chris Paul.

- Sunday afternoon: ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski reports that four known teams are expected to meet with Thompson in the coming days: the Philadelphia 76ers, Dallas Mavericks, Los Angeles Lakers, and LA Clippers.
- Sunday afternoon: The Warriors are aware that Klay intends to leave, and plan on working with him to facilitate a sign-and-trade. This would help the Warriors get something in return for losing Thompson, and would also help Klay maximize the amount of money that he can make.
- Saturday afternoon: The Warriors are expecting, and prepared for Klay to leave in free agency.
- Friday evening: Marc Stein reports “strong mutual interest” between Thompson and the Mavs.
