Jonathan Kuminga and the Golden State Warriors were unable to agree to an extension by Monday’s deadline, which wasn’t a surprise to those involved in the process as both sides were entrenched on their respective positions.
“The Kuminga situation was never close,” said Brian Windhorst on the Hoops Collective Podcast. “Both sides put out numbers in the process. They were not close. The gap never really got closed. That deal was struck long before the deadline, they knew there wasn’t a deal there.”
Kuminga is represented by agent Aaron Turner and is on a $7.6 million deal this season. Kuminga will be a restricted free agent this offseason.
Last season, Kuminga averaged 16.1 points, 4.8 rebounds and 2.2 assists in a career-high 26 minutes per game.
