Previously with the Warriors:
Golden State kicked off the season with an emphatic 140-104 win over the Portland Trail Blazers on Wednesday night. Despite a rough first quarter — shooting just 6-of-23 from the field and 2-of-12 from beyond the arc — the Warriors found their rhythm as the game progressed, leaning on their depth and pace to pull ahead. By the second half, Golden State’s up-tempo play proved too much for Portland to handle, allowing the Warriors to firmly take control of the game.

Both Stephen Curry and Draymond Green sat out the fourth quarter with the Warriors up comfortably. Curry nearly notched a triple-double, finishing with 17 points, 10 assists, and 9 rebounds, while Buddy Hield provided a spark off the bench, dropping a team-high 22 points. Seven Warriors scored in double figures, highlighting the team’s balanced attack.

What to watch for tonight:
Golden State enters tonight’s game with some banged-up stars, as Curry, Green, and De’Anthony Melton were all listed as questionable following Wednesday’s opener. Fortunately, as of Friday morning, The Athletic’s Anthony Slater reports that all three should be available Friday night against the Jazz.
Steph Curry and Draymond Green have been upgraded to available tonight. They’ll play in Utah. De’Anthony Melton probable. Looks like Warriors will have all 12 rotation players.

This means head coach Steve Kerr will most likely utilize a 12-man rotation once again. The Warriors’ depth has been a strength thus far, and so they’ve leaned into it with great success.
Kerr, who typically favors a shorter rotation, went with the 12-man lineup on Wednesday — a decision he attributed to the difficulty of choosing who to sit out. This depth and rotation flexibility allowed the Warriors to play at a blistering pace, which should be crucial once again against a bigger Jazz frontcourt.
Utah is led by big man Lauri Markkanen, who’s fresh off a 35-point outing against the Memphis Grizzlies. If the Warriors can keep Markkanen in check and use their depth to their advantage, they’ll have a solid chance to win tonight’s game.
