Golden State basketball is on the way! Come join our game thread and chat about tonight’s matchup here.
The Golden State Warriors will play the Los Angeles Clippers on Thursday night. The game will be played at 7:00 PM PT in San Francisco and can be watched on NBA TV and NBC Sports Bay Area.
Previously with the Warriors:
Golden State lost another heartbreaker on Tuesday night after the Sacramento Kings beat them, 124-123. The Minnesota Timberwolves won their game over the Oklahoma City Thunder earlier that night meaning that the Warriors needed to not only beat the Kings but beat them by 12 points or more to clinch a spot in the In-Season tournament. Despite being up by as much as 24 points, Golden State saw their lead dwindle until their eventual collapse in the closing minutes of the game.

What to watch for tonight:
The Warriors get a chance to bounce back tonight in their first matchup of the season against the Clippers. After their mid-season trade for former Philadelphia 76ers’ guard James Harden, the Clippers went on a six-game losing streak. Since then, they won five of their last seven including last night’s game against the Kings, 131-117.

While it took some time to adjust, the new additions to the Clippers’ roster are beginning to find their place on the team. More importantly, Los Angeles was able to sustain their above average defense, ranking sixth in the league with a defensive rating of 109.6.
Golden State will be challenged on both ends of the floor by Los Angeles’ plethora of big name perimeter players. Making matters worse, they will be without two of their best defensive players in Gary Payton II and Andrew Wiggins along with backup point guard Chris Paul.
Andrew Wiggins is out tonight against the Clippers. Right finger soreness. So the Warriors will be without Wiggins, Chris Paul and Gary Payton II.

Much has been said of the Warriors’ core three of Steph Curry, Klay Thompson, and Draymond Green over the last couple of days. Simply put, Golden State needs these three to play better if they want any shot of winning tonight and the rest of the season moving forward.
