Previously with the Warriors:
Golden State advanced to 6-1 on the season after beating the Washington Wizards on Monday night, 125-112. It was another impressive victory where the Warriors got it done with shooting and defense, however the story of the night was the return of Stephen Curry.
The Warriors’ superstar point guard made his return to the starting lineup after missing three games due to an ankle injury. While he was limited to just 24 minutes, he made the most of that time scoring 24 points on 7-of-15 shooting from the field, six assists, and three rebounds. Most importantly, Curry told reporters that his ankle felt fine after the game.

What to watch for tonight:
Head coach Steve Kerr says that he doesn’t anticipate a big minutes restriction for Curry as the team gears up for Wednesday night’s matchup against the defending champion Celtics. With the 2022 NBA Finals MVP back in the lineup, the Warriors are nearly at full strength, missing only combo guard De’Anthony Melton who remains out as he continues to recover from a back injury. Meanwhile, the Celtics will be without last year’s Finals MVP, Jaylen Brown, who will miss the game with a hip injury

Boston represents Golden State’s toughest test of the season thus far. They rank near the top of the league in every category including first in offensive rating, fourth in defensive rating, and third in net rating. Moreover, they lead the league in three-point attempts with 50.9 attempts per game — something that the Warriors have made an emphasis for their own offense, ranking just three spots away from the Celtics at fourth with 42.0 attempts per game.
Because of this, the keys for tonight’s matchup will be the Warriors ability to defend Boston’s three-point shooting barrage while finding additional sources of scoring on the offensive side of the ball. The Celtics are an elite defensive team that likes to switch one through five. The Warriors struggled against this type of defense during the second half of their game against the Houston Rockets as it forces them to rely more on creating their own scoring opportunities instead of moving the ball.
This is where the Warriors’ lack of a secondary scorer comes back to haunt them. They’ve done well so far recreating a second star in the aggregate through big performances from Buddy Hield, Andrew Wiggins, and Jonathan Kuminga. However, the pressure to put up points against a tough Boston defense will be the first true test for this new Warriors’ offense.
