The Golden State Warriors have a serious minutes crunch at every position except center. Moses Moody deserves minutes. Jonathan Kuminga deserves minutes. De’Anthony Melton deserves minutes. Brandin Podziemski deserves minutes. Gary Payton II deserves minutes. Buddy Hield deserves minutes. Kyle Anderson deserves minutes. Lindy Waters III deserves minutes.
And oh yeah: they have two future Hall of Famers in Steph Curry and Draymond Green still anchoring the lineup.
It’s a problem that’s plaguing Steve Kerr and his coaching staff. After the Dubs rolled past the Los Angeles Lakers 111-97 on Tuesday night to improve to 5-0 on the preseason, Kerr mentioned the minutes crunch … which was notable since neither Podziemski nor Melton were even playing in that game.
The way it will likely play out is the old-fashioned way: players fighting for spots, some players not getting the minutes they want, and injuries dictating some lineups. But there’s also a chance that the Warriors clear minutes by shuffling up their roster, and shipping out a few players. Time is running out for the Dubs to do that, but it’s surely something that Mike Dunleavy Jr. and Kerr are at least mulling over.
So what do you think, Dub Nation? Is there a last-minute trade coming down the pipeline?
