The Golden State Warriors giving Jordan Poole and Andrew Wiggins contract extensions in 2022 didn’t “sit well” with either Klay Thompson or Draymond Green, according to Ramona Shelburne and Kendra Andrews of ESPN.
Thompson felt “disrespected” that the team did not offer him an extension after the Warriors won the title in 2022. The organization choosing to extend Poole over Thompson undercut Thompson’s role on the team.
The Warriors reportedly wanted Thompson to return in a bench role similar to Andre Iguodala.
Around June 1, Thompson’s camp made the Warriors one last offer for the shooting guard to return on a two-year, $40 million deal.
