Jake Fischer: Golden State is far more likely to secure an extension with guard Moses Moody than Kuminga, league sources said. Moody is in line for valuable minutes helping replace Klay Thompson, and would command a deal north of $10 million in average annual value.

Jake Fischer: The Warriors have never seemed intent on paying Jonathan Kuminga near-max money the No. 7 pick in the 2021 NBA Draft has desired before this season. Should Kuminga truly evolve into Golden State’s third best player on a contending team, the Warriors would be far more amenable to rewarding Kuminga come free agency, sources said. -via Threads / October 19, 2024
“I’m told both sides are still far apart in extension conversations between now and Monday,” said Shams Charania on NBA Today about the Kuminga negotiations. “I think there’s a belief that this could play out into the season and into restricted free agent. And really a guy in Jonathan Kuminga that wants to bet on himself and try to be as close to a max contract type of player out there. The Warriors need him to step up and need him to become that superstar player. They also want to see how he potentially looks this season.” -via RealGM / October 18, 2024
There is some optimism that the Golden State Warriors could sign Moses Moody to an extension before the Monday, October 21st deadline, especially in comparison to how their talks are progressing with Jonathan Kuminga. “I’m told there is a window for him to get a deal done,” said Shams Charania on NBA Today. “That is a much more likely deal in Golden State. He has played well so far this preseason. They believe he can have a real rotation role. If he does, they do want to extend him.” Bobby Marks added that Moody could be in the $13 million per year range on his extension. -via RealGM / October 18, 2024
