Another media day, another uniform for the legend.
Wellp, the new Media Day is upon us across the National Basketball Association. There’s a lot of people poring through transcripts of insightful interviews of their favorite players, checking out new teammates in the hometeam jersies, and feeling the fresh smell of optimism in the early fall air.
And it’s also a great time to check in on the dudes who left the home squad for (allegedly) greener pastures. I wrote earlier about how surreal it was seeing all-time Golden State Warriors legend Klay Thompson donning Dallas Mavericks colors and talking about how awesome it is playing with Luka Doncic.
But did you peep former Warrior Chris Paul joining forces with the San Antonio Spurs?
Gregg Popovich said he “despised Chris [Paul] for many years” & Paul said “yea, it’s mutual.”
Both made sure to add that they’ve always had extremely respect for one another during their years of battles as opponents pic.twitter.com/ExyizPvTuc

It definitely doesn’t sting as much watching CP3 in another team’s colors. Hell, he already played in Houston for a couple years so Golden State is used to seeing him in Texas. But his time with the Dubs was so fleeting during his one season with the team, it seems like a blur.
Chris Paul was really a Warrior for a season lmao

“The Warriors were not bringing back Chris Paul on a $30M dollar deal at this point in his career.” @wojespn on the Warriors waiving Chris Paul: pic.twitter.com/28psPS5AKU

I wonder how many other fans from other franchises feel that way about the CP3 experience. A sure fire hall-of-famer and floor raiser who makes his teammates around him better, he’s still chasing that elusive NBA championship.
Here’s some Media Day interviews of CP3 past from his days as a Golden State antagonist:
Captain of the Clippers
Joining forces with James Harden in Houston
Exiled to Oklahoma City
Bringing championship hopes to Phoenix
Shocking the world by joining his nemesis Warriors
Twilight of a fantastic career mentoring Victor Wembanyama in San Antonio
