On Wednesday night, Draymond Green got ejected less than four minutes into the Warriors-Magic game. It was a pretty selfish moment from the four-time NBA champion.
The Warriors are fighting for their playoff lives at this point in the season. The fact that Green couldn’t control his emotions and ensure that he’d play the entire game is alarming.
During this Friday’s edition of “Get Up,” former Virginia Tech head coach Seth Greenberg ripped Green’s behavior to shreds.
Greenberg thinks the Warriors should flat-out bench Green for at least the next few games.
“Don’t play the dude. He’s absolutely killing your culture, your identity, and basically everything that you built,” Greenberg said. “Eventually, no means no. If no means yes, then you should’ve said no. Your actions as a coach, as an organization, have to be a whole lot stronger.”
There’s no doubt that other analysts share Greenberg’s sentiment. It seems like every week there’s a new story about Green acting out on the hardwood.
Green somewhat owned up to his mistakes on the latest episode of his self-titled podcast. That doesn’t mean much if he continues to get himself tossed from games, though.
“I said what I said. I deserved to be kicked out at that point,” Green said, via ESPN. “If I’m all the way honest with y’all, kind of was trying to turn my body and angle it to go to the bench, but I said what I said a little too soon before angling my body. … But, yeah, it just can’t happen.”
The Warriors will face the Hornets this Friday evening in Charlotte. We’ll see if Green can behave himself.
