Rounding up all Warriors and NBA related news for Friday, January 24th.
In today’s Dub Hub:
- Steve Kerr explains how Steph Curry benefits from Quinten Post’s floor spacing following the Warriors 131-106 victory over the Bulls on Thursday night.
- Steph Curry thanks fans for voting him as a starter in the 2025 NBA All-Star Game.
- Nuggets’ Nikola Jokic records fifth straight triple-double in win vs. Kings.
The Golden State Warriors snapped their two-game skid with a big 131-106 win over the Chicago Bulls. The performance was fueled by the emergence of rookie Quinten Post, who scored 20 points, connecting on 5-of-10 shots from beyond the arc, while showcasing the floor-spacing ability that head coach Steve Kerr believes can transform the team’s offense.
Steve Kerr on Quinten Post’s floor spacing: “Steph was the happiest guy in the building tonight.”

Stephen Curry, who led the team with 21 points, took full advantage of the open lanes created by Post’s outside shooting. With Post pulling Chicago’s big men away from the paint, Curry had the freedom to attack the basket which also opened up his opportunities for more threes.
“We did talk yesterday… I thought we already saw improvement today… Like I said yesterday, I’m trying to adjust to him. Trying to make life easier on him.”

The Warriors looked rejuvenated offensively, scoring at will and rediscovering the ball movement that has defined their success under Kerr. Post’s three-point shooting adds a new dynamic to Golden State’s rotation, and while the rookie still has room to grow, Kerr’s comments highlight how impactful his skill set could be for a Warriors team looking to save their season.

Warriors News:
Warriors rookie Quinten Post, once rescued by Steph Curry, is returning the favor | The Athletic
After the team landed in San Francisco following a recent road trip, Post was having trouble finding a ride home around 2:30 a.m. Uber wasn’t working for him, he said. As many in the organization filtered into the parking lot and away from the airport, Curry, who often moves in his personal life at a methodical pace, saw the unsettled Post trying to figure out the logistics of his exit as the options dwindled.
“Steph’s like: ‘Are you trying to go home?’” Post recalled. “Yep. ‘I got you.’”
Post estimated that Curry took a 20-minute detour to get him where he needed to go. It was a small and forgettable gesture to Curry. When relayed that Post had shared it with reporters, Curry laughed in delight, said he “loved the kid” but that rookies reveal too much. But for Post, this was clearly a symbolic moment of leadership as he gets acclimated to NBA life.
“That just shows how he is as a person,” Post said. “Out of the 50 people at the airport, he was the last person that needed to worry about if I got home.”
Podz’s return fuels Warriors’ bench in blowout win over Bulls | NBC Sports Bay Area
Now that Podziemski is back with Santos and Post playing at their best level of the season, things might be turning in the right direction for Golden State.
“The cutting and quick passing, that’s what’s exciting,” Kerr said. “Quinten has that, Brandin has that, Gui has that. When the game starts to flow and the ball is really moving and the spacing is good, that’s basketball and that’s what we’ve prided ourselves on for years here. It’s really fun to see these young guys picking that up and playing well together.”

NBA trade deadline intel: Suns, Bucks among most desperate to make deal | ESPN
Would Golden State love to make a big impact move now? Of course. Over the past decade, the Warriors have shown a willingness to make a swing for a star, and sources have said that hasn’t changed.
What is clear: There is no player available via trade right now who will change Golden State’s fortunes enough to spark a run into the West’s top six.
Rather than the approach the Suns are taking, the Warriors are willing to wait until a true difference-maker becomes available. While they could make a move similar to the one that brought them Dennis Schroder from Brooklyn last month, they’ve shown little inclination to do anything bigger.

NBA News:
Adam Silver: ‘Potentially some adjustments we can make’ to NBA’s style of play, 3-point volume | The Athletic
Silver is also willing to take his time to see how this plays out. Former Duke coach Mike Krzyzewski, who is an advisor to the league, warned him not to overreact to trends because they can swing back from the extreme.
But it is something the league will look at when it holds competition committee and general managers meetings next week. The NBA, Silver added, had already tried some tweaks last season to limit offenses when it changed how referees called games midseason, which led to fewer free throws and fouls. Just as the league shifted and changed rules to limit what it saw as too much physicality in the 1990s, it might now have to pull back some from the increased emphasis on freedom of movement over the last few years.
Nikola Jokić nails 66-foot shot en route to 5th straight triple-double | NBA
Jokić’s shot highlighted his fifth straight triple-double, all before the end of the third quarter, and his 20th of the season, the most in the NBA this season.
He also has an uncanny ability to put up historic numbers. He is now averaging a triple-double for the season — 30.2 points, 13.4 rebounds and 10 assists — and two weeks ago he and Westbrook became the first teammates to both record triple-doubles in same game multiple times.
Thursday night he hit another milestone.
According to the NBA, Jokić’ joins Wilt Chamberlain as the only players in NBA history to record a game with at least 35 points, 20 rebounds and 15 assists. Chamberlain accomplished his feat on Feb. 14, 1968, against the Seattle SuperSonics when he also shot 15-for-18 overall and 5-for-12 on free throws.

In case you missed it at Golden State of Mind:
Phoenix Suns prove there’s always a way to create draft assets
That being said, the Suns are only a half-game ahead of the Warriors this season, and that’s before Quinten Post started shooting the lights out. If Steph Curry doesn’t think his team should make a “desperate trade,” the Suns probably shouldn’t either. But the Warriors are certainly capable of making any number of trades, depending on their tolerance for risk and the loss of future assets. Right now, that tolerance looks low.
