Rounding up all Warriors and NBA related news for Monday, March 3rd.
In today’s Dub Hub:
- Steph Curry claims his dunk against the 76ers will be the final dunk of his career.
- Warriors announce they’ve signed Kevin Knox to a second 10-day contract.
- Suns and Kevin Durant would work together on a potential trade this summer, according to ESPN’s Shams Charania.
Although the Golden State Warriors saw their five-game winning streak snapped in Saturday night’s 126-119 loss to the Philadelphia 76ers, fans were still treated to a rare sight.
With just over seven minutes remaining in the fourth quarter and the Warriors trailing by seven, Buddy Hield stripped the ball for a steal and quickly heaved it up the floor to none other than Stephen Curry who took flight and threw down a one-handed dunk—his first since 2019.

The two-time MVP, known more for his sharpshooting rather than his hops, acknowledged the moment after the game, saying it was a positive sign as he continues to work through a lingering knee issue. However, he also admitted that this could very well be the final dunk attempt of his career.
Steph Curry said tonight was the last dunk of his career: “I’m calling it right now.” He pointed at Jerry Stackhouse after it because Stackhouse asked him to dunk at shootaround today. He said his knees have been feeling well enough to try it. pic.twitter.com/Qr1UqwKIhI

Saturday’s highlight marked the 27th regular-season dunk of Curry’s career, an impressive feat for the soon-to-be 37-year-old point guard. Even if this was his final dunk, it’s just another reminder that Curry still has plenty left in the tank—and plenty more ways to leave fans in awe.

Warriors News:
Steph Curry declares rare dunk the last of his career: ‘I’m calling it right now’ | The Athletic
Curry’s willingness to climb the ladder is generally a good sign for the Warriors. He turns 37 in a couple of weeks and has been dealing with knee tendinitis this season. His stat line and general aggressiveness signal how well he has felt lately. He confirmed that with the dunk and his postgame comments.
“The maintenance still requires a lot to get ready to play,” Curry said. “You’re still mindful of the knees. It’s holding stable, which is all I want — be available and be stable out there.”
What we learned as Warriors miss Butler in streak-snapping loss | NBC Sports Bay Area
Where Butler was missed most was about more than only scoring points.
The Warriors looked disjointed from the start. Brandin Podziemski (minus-16) and Moses Moody (minus-10), two young players who have reaped the benefits of Butler’s arrival, struggled all game long.
The 76ers took nine more free throws than the Warriors, had one fewer turnover and one more steal than them. The amount of missed layups and shots around the rim by the Warriors felt like a number too high to count. Butler’s gravity as another scoring star on the court and his basketball IQ were sorely missed against the Sixers.
Steve Kerr explains the extended rest for Steph Curry vs. 76ers: “We got three in four nights”

Jimmy Butler faces lawsuit over unpaid rent, property damage | ESPN
In the suit, the plaintiff contends Butler failed to pay two months of rent at $130,000 per month for the property. Realtor.com says the contemporary-style, 5,398-square-foot home built in 2016 has five bedrooms and six bathrooms. The home was built on a canal and also has a pool. The website pegs its value at about $10 million.
The lawsuit also alleges that Butler changed the locks and would not give a key to the property owner, keeping maintenance workers from entering the home. Butler also is alleged to have failed to maintain the swimming pool and air conditioning, the latter leading to extensive mold that required the replacement of ceilings and floors on the property.

Thunder’s K. Williams and Dort, Spurs’ Champagnie ejected | ESPN
“We have not been a team that’s retaliated very much,” Daigneault said. “We retaliated tonight. We have the worst free throw differential in the NBA. So, more fouls are being called on us than are being called on our opponents. I think there’s a cumulative frustration, and I think our guys finally got to a point where they had had enough. We have to have better poise. We don’t want to lose rotation players in big games as a result of that. We’ve done a great job of that for a long period of time, and I just think the cumulative effect of the pummeling we take on some plays boiled over in that situation.”
Power Rankings, Week 20: Cavs back at No. 1; West and East tiers start to get clearer | NBA
Five of the Lakers’ six games during this winning streak have been within five points in the last five minutes, and they’ve allowed just four points on 18 clutch defensive possessions over that stretch. That includes keeping the Clippers scoreless (0-for-8 from the field with five turnovers) on nine clutch possessions over the weekend, with the highlight being LeBron James’ chase-down block (initially called a goaltend) on Kris Dunn.

In case you missed it at Golden State of Mind:
The Moses Moody era is slowly coming into view
The most impressive thing about Moody’s emergence? It’s not just that he’s playing well—it’s HOW he’s doing it. The man has stopped overthinking and started just hooping. After years spent bouncing between the rotation and Steve Kerr’s doghouse (which should honestly have its own ZIP code considering how many young Warriors have resided there), Moody has discovered the perfect formula: slowing down to speed up.
