Draymond Green isn’t going to receive a warm welcome next time he shows up to Madison Square Garden, that’s for sure.
During the NBA playoffs, Green referred to the New York Knicks as a “fluke.” He even said the franchise wouldn’t do anything significant in the next 15 years.
“It’ll probably be another 15 years of misery and we’ll all sit around at laugh at Knicks fans with their delusion because that’s just what happens,” Green said in May.
The Knicks, on paper, have already made some drastic moves this offseason. Not only did they re-sign OG Anunoby to a five-year deal, they acquired Mikal Bridges in a blockbuster trade with the Brooklyn Nets.
Green revealed on his podcast that he expects the Knicks to be a “tough” team to face next season. His stance on their playoff hopes, however, hasn’t changed.
“I don’t want to see that team in the regular season because they are going to be playing harder than nobody’s tomorrow,” Green said. “I kid you not. That team, defensively, is going to be tough. They’re going to be tough, tough. Playing against a team like that in the regular season when you don’t have time to prepare is going to be hard…. but I ultimately don’t think that team is going to get over the hump.”
Green was then asked if the Knicks will make it to the NBA Finals in the next three years. He responded, “No, I don’t think so.”
