Despite signing a $100 million contract with the Golden State Warriors in 2019 and an $82 million contract back in 2015, Draymond Green doesn’t believe that the NBA wants to make its players wealthy.
Appearing on The Big Podcast with Shaq, Green declared that the game of basketball is trying to keep its players from becoming wealthy after playing by serving them with so many fines that go into the six-digits and with taxes being as high as they.
“This job is actually not set up for us to be wealthy after we’re done playing… they way we’re taxed… it took my mom four years when I was growing up to make $100k. And I lose that a night because, what?” Green said.
Unfortunately, Green is going to have to look a little harder to find sympathy for what he’s saying. Green is a habitual fine-drawer playing in one of the most expensive regions in the world.
“What if players stopped doing things that they know damn well are going to get them fined?” one user replied.
“Of course because he always get fined,” wrote another.
“So maybe follow the rules?” a third wrote.
Players from teams without a state income tax like Florida and Texas probably don’t feel nearly as worried about their financial futures.
Is Draymond Green on an island with this opinion?
