Bad news averted.
UPDATE: Dennis Schröder has returned to the game. The bulk of this article was written before Schröder returned.
The injury hits just keep coming for the Golden State Warriors. Early in the third quarter of Tuesday night’s game against the Utah Jazz, Warriors point guard Dennis Schröder hit the deck in visible pain. He stayed on the floor for a while holding his knee and lower leg, before being helped to his feet. Schröder immediately left the court and went straight to the locker room, using two people as crutches, clearly unable to put much weight on his legs.

Schröder came to the Warriors in an in-season trade to replace veteran De’Anthony Melton, whose time with the Warriors was cut very short after he suffered an ACL injury that required season-ending surgery. After being moved to the bench, Schröder was re-inserted into the starting lineup on Tuesday when Steph Curry was a late scratch due to knee soreness. So it would be cruel if Schröder has to miss any time.
Thankfully, Schröder was seen back on the bench shortly after leaving the game, though his status for the rest of the game hasn’t yet been announced. We’ll keep you updated.
Update: Schröder returned to the game at about the three-minute mark of the third quarter.
